Scotland’s national tourism body, VisitScotland has launched a new initiative designed to encourage UK and international golfers to play at one of the country’s golf courses.
The initiative, called ‘Drive It Home’ is set to run until the end of April and hopes to capitalise on Scotland’s reputation as the home of golf. The initiative will offer a range of promotions to attract more visitors.
Among those promotions being offered as part of the campaign are more than 250 free tee times; which will be available at courses all across Scotland, as well as the opportunity to play with the former Ryder Cup captain, Sam Torrance, or play on the historic St Andrews Old Course.
Torrance, VisitScotland’s golf ambassador, said: “The Drive It Home promotion is the perfect reason for both international and UK golfers to visit the Home of Golf in 2010.”
VisitScotland’s chief executive, Philip Riddle added: “Drive It Home encourages Scottish golf courses and local businesses to work together and cross-sell, an ethos which, particularly in the current climate, will help the industry achieve its full potential.”
