Pet Airlines leaps into the sky

The Huffington Post has the rather excellent story of Pet Airlines – the airline that lets pets travel in cabin rather than the cargo bay of the plane.

Starting on the July the 14th the airline will fly pets between Baltimore/Washington International; Midway in Chicago; Rocky Mountain Airport in Broomfield, Colo., near Denver; Hawthorne Municipal Airport near Los Angeles; and Republic Airport on Long Island.

Is there any chance of snakes on a plane? It seems not. The airline will only be allowing cats and dogs to travel with their owner. In fact, humans cannot fly (other than the cabin crew) so pet owners need to book tickets on a different airline.

Some airlines currently do allow small pets that do not require an extra seat but Pet Airlines has no limit on size. Their one-way fares start at just under $150 and the arline already has a waiting list for certain sizes of airlines.

The Huffington Post adds that there will be no snack service but this is to prevent the animals getting sick.
